Has anyone owned a 4x4 toyota blizzard or daihatsu scat

Posted by timewarp_design 1/21/2009 2:13:20 PM
  • Hi, I am a bit (a lot) obsessed with the 4x4 1983/4 Toyota blizzard, which is a rebadged daihatsu scat.
I would like to know as much about these wonderful vehicles as I have just bought a 1983 diesel blizzard and am going to gradually restore it.
    Thanks for any info
    Lianne

      • Thank you for your reply. Mine is a 2.2Litre engine. The daihatsu scat that came out in the same year was a 2.5L I think. So glad someone else in Australia has and enjoys them!

      • hey jaytim,
i would love a copy of the workshop manual (ill pay for the copies of course). I have a F50 scat, love it, its not going at the minute though, due to a dead radiator. Im trying to search for one, but thinking i will have to put a rocky radiator in it. ne ways, let me know about the manual,
        thanks

      • Hi and thanks for the replies. Sorry about the delay, did not think anyone else was going to answer!
Yes thank you I would love a workshop manual copy. And I did not know that a 2.8 diesel would fit.
How does it go with the 4 speed? What revs does it do at 90kms and 100kms?
        Thanks again for reply.

      • We're also doing up a Daihatsu Scat (1978) but are having serious trouble finding parts (door locks, ignition barrel/lock, R hand door window winding mechanism). Just wondering if anyone knows if other year/model Daihatsu parts will fit ours? Its a great car with reconditioned engine, like new, but you have to drive it with a screwdriver!!
        Thankyou,
        Lucy.

      • Hi
I have just brought my first car its a Yellow 1978 Daihatsu F20 with a 1.6Lter (12R? i think) engine runs butifully (the fact that its petrol aside) my parents actually had a F50 in Papua New Gunea when i was a kid some 6 years ago i went back reciently and guess what its still there and running on PNG roads thats quite a feat being over 20 years old and still going hard on thoes roads is quite demanding on any vehicle.

on the one I have ath the moment i am looking at getting the leaf springs replaced (any suggestions any one?) and long term i would like to put  2 bench seats in the back (so it can seat 6 people totla the one we had in PNG had the 6 seat set up so i know its possable agin sugestions and pointers for complyance would be greatly apreciated)

        cheers guys/people much apriciated

      • Hi, I've just found this thread, I have a F60R 2.8 deisel Scat, I may need parts for the fuel pump as it idles quite high and cannot bring the revs down. Someone told me this is a common thing and comes from the fuel pump, does anyone have answers on this. Cheers.

      • Hi Scatmobile
How I eventually fixed the diesel pump problem was pulling it apart, getting a kit for it from a genuine toyota dealer. The kit comprised mostly of rubber 0 rings. But parts are almost impossible to find unfortunately. I needed a radiator hose for mine, and had to go through the entire range of hoses which took about 40 mins. In the end it was a commodore one that was the closest. Hope that helps a bit. Go to a good diesel mechanic for  diesel pump info, they should be able to help.
