Ford Territory - door ajar warning light
Posted by rachl 7/5/2010 10:25:10 AM
Has anyone had any problems with their Ford Territory door ajar warning light? I have a 2004 model which has done almost 100,000 km's and have owned it since new. The central locking went as did the actuator on the back tailgate door. Not long after the "door ajar warning light" went on and stays on. We've had the actuators replaced on the drivers door and also the tailgate door and thought all the problems were fixed. Now the light is back on. This means that the internal lights won't go out, so we risk a flat battery and none of the doors will lock. I'm on my third visit to an auto electrician trying to find out what's wrong. It's costing a fortune to second guess what the problem is, so I'm hoping someone else may have a solution?

We have just solved a similar problem with the door open light on the dash. The problem appears to be water within the wiring for the door controls. At the bottom of the 'B' pillar (pillar between front & rear doors) there is an entry point for wiring. This is covered with a rubber housing. If you pull the rubber housing out you should see water around the wiring. We blew it out with a pressure air hose and the problem was fixed. We have used silicone to reseal the area. Hope this helps.
