• Buying a Car

  • Searching

    Click the Buy tab above and use the Quick Search to search for a particular car by selecting from the fields, or use the Search by Body Type to search for a car by body type. Browse through the search results and take a closer look at pictures by clicking on any image. You can narrow down your results by using the search filters on the left of the page. Once you have seen a car you are interested in, click on the title to view full details.

  • Contacting a Seller

    You can send an enquiry from either the search results page or from within the car ad. The seller's details will be included in the ad so you can contact them directly, or you can submit an enquiry to have the seller contact you.

  • Tools

    • Recent Searches
      CarBuddy records your searches and displays them on the Buy page to save you time, click on a recent search to have the results shown.

    • Recently Viewed
      CarBuddy keeps track of cars you have recently viewed on the right of the page.

    • My List
      You can add cars to your list for quick access later. Save your list (registration required) to access them from any computer.

    • Compare
      You can compare two or more cars to view side-by-side details. Click the compare link in your list or select cars in the search results and click compare.

    • Search Alert
      If you can't find the car - Search Alert - If you can't find the car you're looking for, you can setup a Search Alert and CarBuddy will send you an email once the car has been added. Search Alerts can be added from within your account management area or alternatively you can add a Search Alert when a search you performed returned no results.

    • Print Ad
      Click the 'Print This Page' link to see a printer friendly version of the ad you can print.

    • Send to Friend
      If you see a car you think someone might be interested in, you can click the 'Send to Friend' link to send them an email with a link to the car.

• Selling a Car

  Before listing your car for sale, take some digital pictures (you can upload up to 10 pictures) and gather information about your car such as the KMs and registration document.

  • Advertising for Private Sellers

    Click the Sell tab above and the click the Start Selling button. You'll need to sign in or create an account if you haven't already. Once signed in you'll be taken to the Create Ad page.

    • 1. Select the type of Ad you want to list (Standard, Premium or Ad with Valuation).
      Ads with Valuation include a valuation provided by Glass's Guide, the valuation is calculated based on the car type, the age of the car, the KMs and the options fitted.

    • 2. Enter you car details by selecting the fields.
      CarBuddy will automatically narrow down the field results to assist in selecting your exact car and automatically populate other information based on the make and model you choose. Enter the price and KMs and other information to assist buyers. You need to provide a registration number, or if unregistered - an engine number.

    • 3. Upload pictures of your car.
      You need to upload at least one picture of your car. Select the Advanced Picture Uploader to quickly upload multiple images with no restrictions (you will need to install a browser plug-in when prompted), or use the Simple Picture Uploader to upload images one at a time with a max file size of 3MB (you do not need to install a browser plug-in). Browse and select images from your computer and click the Upload button. You can edit (remove pictures and a picture description) and organise your pictures by clicking the Edit Pictures and Organise Pictures tabs. A video of your car can also be included, upload the video to YouTube and include the URL in the Video tab.

    • 4. Preview your ad
      If you're happy that everything is complete and correct you can proceed to make payment (if applicable) and that's it - your ad is finished.

  • Advertising for Car Dealers

    If you're a car dealer click here to see how you can list your stock for FREE. Complete the dealer form and fax it to 03 9584 0119 or send it to CarBuddy Pty Ltd, PO Box 358, Chelsea, VIC, 3196 to have your cars added. Note: If you cannot see the dealer information please contact us (your account was probably registered as a private seller).

• Registration And My Account

  This is where you can manage your buying and selling activities. You need to register before you can access the management areas .

  • Registration

    • Register an account to sell or use the community areas
      You need to join CarBuddy as a registered member to sell a car or use the community areas. Click here to Join
    • Problems with registration
      If you haven't received your registration email please see the following:
      - Please check your junk and spam filter settings to ensure emails from CarBuddy (emails that end in @carbuddy.com.au) are not filtered.
      - Please click here to have the registration email sent to you again.

  • Buying Related

    • My List
      From here you can compare and delete cars you have saved to your list and add notes.
    • My Search Alerts
      Create a search alert to have CarBuddy send you an email when the car has been added. Search Alert emails are sent once a day if matching criteria is met.

  • Selling Related

    • My Ads
      This is where you can view and manage your active and ended ads.
    • My Incomplete Ads
      View incomplete ads you saved and finish them.
    • Enquiries
      View enquiries you have received and add notes etc.
    • Account
      View your invoices and manage your credit card details.

  • General

    • Profile
      Edit your CarBuddy profile. Car dealers can also add a company banner/logo.
      
    • Suggestions
      Tell us your suggestions for CarBuddy, we are all ears!

  Trust & Safety

   Be street smart when buying and selling online - if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Trade safely on CarBuddy and protect yourself against online fraud.

• • Key Things You Need To Know

    • When Buying
      • Never pay a deposit or full payment without seeing the car.
      • Understand that you are dealing with a third party such as an individual or car dealer.
      • Find out who you're dealing with, get their name and number and ring before going to see the car.
      • Don't rush to buy the car if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
      • Be wary of cars advertised at low prices, you can check the Valuation Range on CarBuddy from within the Car Details section of the ad.
      • Do not pay for a car unless you're sure the seller is legitimate. We do not endorse, verify or guarantee any seller.
      • CarBuddy does NOT provide any car payment service, does not verify/guarantee any seller, does not provide any money back guarantees, does not provide any escrow services and does not provide any online chat services. So if you receive any emails stating that a seller uses a CarBuddy payment or escrow service or is a verified seller or asking you to talk to someone from CarBuddy via online chat etc, it is fraudulent.
      • If you are suspicious of an advertised car or seller, please contact us.

    • When Selling

      • Do not accept payments from buyers offering to purchase your car without even inspecting it.
      • Do not release the car until you have received payment in full and the payment is cleared funds.
        Only sign in to your CarBuddy account through a www.carbuddy.com.au URL.
      • Contact us if you think your car ad has been accessed by an unauthorised person.
      • Before agreeing to a test drive ensure your insurance covers test drivers, and ask the buyer for keys to their vehicle or something else of value.
      • If you are suspicious of a buyer, do not rush into a sale.
